Jurgen Klopp is keen to make sure that Simon Mignolet remains at Anfield throughout the summer.
Speaking to reporters after Mignolet played for Liverpool against Bradford, Klopp reiterated his desire to have “two number ones.”
Klopp said: ‘I have had a lot of conversations with him in the last couple of years and – not weeks – but months. We spoke before we left (for summer break). I would say, yes. It is because at a club like Liverpool you need two number ones, at least, in the club. That’s cool with Ali and Simon. A good situation for the club and a situation you should have. Everything is fine from my point of view.”

As we’ve said before, we wouldn’t hold it against Mignolet if he wanted to leave to get first team football, but Klopp sees him as a fantastic member of the squad to have, especially for team spirit and squad morale, and for provided competition for Alisson, so it looks like he’s here to stay…let’s hope we have a couple of good cup runs to keep him busy!
