According to Star in Turkey, Liverpool sent scouts to watch Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir against Fenerbahce last weekend.
The Turkish outlet report that Liverpool’s representatives were left impressed by the Turkish shot stopper. Cakir has made a name for himself in Turkish football over the last few months and has enjoyed an impressive start to the season, and made his international debut in May. He’s believed to be valued at around €15 million.
Although he wouldn’t be brought into rival Alisson, it would certainly be hoped that he could push Alisson on even further. He’d bring a mixture of youth and experience to the club. Would he be happy to be number two when he’s playing regularly for Trabzonspor? That remains to be seen…
Liverpool are clearly interested and liking what they see, as they have let Trabzonspor know that they’ll continue to monitor Cakir over the next few months.
